MY CURRENT PRODUCTION

HEADSHOTS

Conceived And Directed by Anton Luitingh & Duane Alexander.

The headshot has become that all-important photograph used by performers in auditions in the hope that it will get them work.

‘Headshots’ - a collection of stories and musical theatre songs, unmasks the truths behind these photographs by allowing the performers to tell their own stories of why they perform and what it means to them.

Inspired by the famous line from the smash-hit musical ‘Billy Elliot’; “Can I just ask you Billy, what does it feel like when you’re dancing?” so the dreams, aspirations and fears of the dancer are explored in a world where dance is often seen as a product that is the same no matter who produces it. But deep within the psyche of the performer lies a human story waiting to be told. One we can all relate to and one which ultimately makes us individual, yet deeply connected as human beings.

Created and directed by Anton Luitingh (Beauty & the Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Offbeat Broadway) and Duane Alexander (Rent, Chicago, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar), 'Headshots' features performers from the Cape Academy of Performing Arts.

Come find out what makes them tick and how the deal with a variety of issues; some funny, some poignant in a burst of song, dance and story.
