Musicals You Love to Loathe!

They're back. Again! The unbelievably talented trio that brought you two sell-out seasons of “Offbeat Broadway”, that earned them no less than four Vita nominations, with the all new “Offbeat Broadway 3”. The show runs at the Theatre on the Bay from 25 April until 24 May 2003, and is directed by theatre veteran Blaise Koch.

After playing to sold out houses in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth as well as the Grahamstown and Hilton festivals, Anton Luitingh, Paul Du Toit and Lindy Abromowitz return to the Theatre on the Bay, with their unique brand of musical comedy to give nearly forty of the world's most loved and loathed musicals their wacky and sometimes irreverent treatment.

Dusting off the old hits and showcasing the new, the show includes showstoppers from well known musicals like Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Rent and Sunset Boulevard, old classics like Annie Get Your Gun and South Pacific as well as numbers from lesser known gems like Sunday In The Park With George. Also showcased are Broadway's latest offerings like Notre Dame de Paris and Closer To Heaven by the Pet Shop Boys and, of course, not forgetting (since Anton is in the current production), the hairiest hit of them all, the ubiquitous Cats!

While sending up a genre they all love, the cast also gives the audience a glimpse of what it's like to work in their crazy, cutthroat industry as they poke fun at the various situations and characters they encounter on a daily basis.

This all new “Offbeat Broadway 3” is the first of the series to play Gauteng where it has opened at Pieter Toerien's Montecasino Theatre to unanimous rave reviews, packed houses and standing ovations nightly proving once again what great talent Cape Town produces.

If you weren't lucky enough to catch them last time be sure not to miss this tribute to everything you love and hate about musicals! And if you did see the first 2 editions of this fabulous show you should now be calling our box office for tickets to see the all new “Offbeat Broadway 3”.
