Porgy & Bess - an Opera in three acts by George Gershwin, Dubose & Dorothy Heyward and Ira Gershwin.

A rare chance to see George Gershwin’s universally loved “people’s opera”, Porgy & Bess, which has emerged as one of the great icons of American music theatre of the last century. Join the inhabitants of the depression-ravaged Catfish Row for a poignant tale of love and deprivation in America’s Deep South. The search for a little happiness in the midst of poverty and hardship is depicted through unforgettable and uplifting songs including “Summertime”, “I got plenty of nuttin’” and ”It ain’t necessarily so”. This unforgettable work is presented by the remarkable Cape Town Opera company.

    Conductor: David Charles Abell
